Questions
Fourteen things people ask first.
Money, timing, vendors, and what actually happens on the night. If yours is not here, ask us and we will answer it and probably add it.
Money
How do you charge?
A flat fee, agreed in writing before we start, and not a percentage of your budget. Full planning is from S$8,800, partial planning from S$4,800, design and styling from S$3,600, and on-the-day direction is S$1,800. The services page lists what each includes.
Do you take commission from vendors?
No. Not a commission, a referral fee, a kickback or a Christmas hamper. If a vendor offers us one we ask for it to be taken off your invoice instead. It is the only way a recommendation from us can mean anything.
What does a wedding in Singapore actually cost?
For two hundred guests in a good hotel ballroom, most of our clients land between S$62,000 and S$130,000 all in, before attire and rings. The banquet is roughly half of that. The price guide breaks it down line by line and has an estimator you can play with.
Is there a minimum budget you work with?
Not a formal one. Our fee needs to make sense next to the rest of the budget, so full planning rarely suits an event under about S$30,000; on-the-day direction or design and styling usually fits better there. We will say which one we think you need.
When do we pay?
Half of our fee on signing, half thirty days before the event. Vendor deposits are paid by you directly to each vendor on the schedule we keep; we never hold your money.
Timing
How far ahead should we book?
Nine to fourteen months for a wedding, because that is how far out the good Saturday ballroom dates go. Three months for a dinner. Conferences vary with the venue; six months is comfortable, three is possible. On-the-day direction can be taken as late as six weeks out if we have the date free.
How many events do you take a year?
A small number, and never two on the same day. It is the whole reason the work looks the way it does. Dates are held on a first-signed basis.
What happens after we enquire?
We read it, usually the same evening, and reply within two working days. If the date is free we suggest an hour together, in person or on a call, with no deck and no charge. A proposal follows within a week: scope, budget shape, venues, our fee. If we are not the right fit we say so and point you to someone who is.
Vendors and venues
Can we use our own vendors?
Yes. We brief them into the same plan as everyone else. If we have a concern about one of them we will say so once, in writing, and then get on with it.
Do you have a list of preferred vendors?
We have people we trust for every line, but we do not publish a list, because the right photographer for a two-hundred-guest ballroom is not the right one for a dinner for twelve. Once we know the brief we introduce two or three per line, with the quote and the reason. The vendors page explains what we check.
Will you help us choose a venue?
That is usually the first thing we do. We shortlist against your guest list and budget, walk the rooms with you, and negotiate the contract. The venues page has fourteen we know well, with capacities and price bands.
The event
Who is actually there on the day?
Two directors from the atelier, on site for around twelve hours, first in and last out. The people you met at the first conversation are the people at the back of the room on the night.
Do you work outside Singapore?
Yes. Two or three destination events a year, most often Bali, Phuket and Penang, occasionally further. Travel and accommodation are quoted separately and shown as their own line.
What if something goes wrong?
Something always does; the point is that you never hear about it. Every plan has a contingency for weather, late arrivals and no-shows, and every vendor has our number, not yours, for the day. Anything that goes wrong is ours to know about.
